Exhibition Opening, Saturday May 21 -- Beauty Culture, at The Annenberg Space for Photography

I'm honored to have been given the opportunity to have photographs from my series Miss Rodeo Texas selected for the new exhibition Beauty Culture that opens at The Annenberg Space for Photography this weekend in Los Angeles.

The show runs from 21 May - 27 November and will feature images from over 100 photographers. Its a very humbling list to be included on next to some folks like Susan Anderson, Lauren Greenfield, Colby Katz, David LaChapelle, Zed Nelson, Erwin Olaf, Terry Richardson, Martin Schoeller, and many many others.

From the show statement:

"[The exhibition] explores the links between beauty and violence, glamour and sexuality, and the cost (in its multiple meanings) of beauty.
...Beauty Culture encourages a social discussion about the allure and mystique of the pursuit of female beauty, as well as its cult-like glorification and the multi-billion dollar industries that surround it.
Ultimately, the exhibition illustrates the power of the still image in shaping cultural ideals and expectations of feminine beauty -- and photography's undeniable influence on conceptions of the Self."
